Happy Repeal Day, Drinky Drunks

leave a comment »

In case you didn’t know (and I didn’t until just a few minutes ago), it’s the 75th anniversary of the end of prohibition!  In celebration, I’m posting a recipe for a simple little drink that I’ve been fond of lately,

The Astoria:

2/3 Gin
1/3 French Vermouth
1 Dash Orange Bitters

This is basically a martini, and I usually make it with half orange bitters, half regular bitters – a few dashes of both.  Also, I don’t think the vermouth I use is French.  And you need ice!  Because this puppy needs to dilute a little while you drink.  Anyway, fun repeal day pictures of alchies here.
