For one more hour this is my office on a lounge chair by the pool in Palm Springs. Then I am officially off the clock and on the hunt for the perfect sweet potato recipe for tomorrow’s feast. I want those potatoes to be savory, but I also want to add bourbon. Will let you know how it all turns out.
Happy Turkey Day y’all! Eat your hearts out tomorrow.

Some random shots from a recent trip to Rome. It rained for most of my stay but that just meant more time inside drinking negronis and eating cacio e pepe which was a-ok with me.

Here I am, y’all. I’m back on the blog, back from the dead and back from Montana, where I spent all last week reunioning with 84 members of my father’s family. Yes. 84. La la lots of relatives. And while I’m still recovering from that long familial embrace, I thought I’d share with you this favorite photo of my grandma and grandpa with 5 of their 10 children (that’s my pops on the far right).
More tomorrow, little monkeys. I’m going to see Inception now. It looks pretty boring. I would rather see The Other Guys. Man, the movies have sucked this summer.

D.M. and I spent 4th of July in Mendocino County where we ate like piggies, drank like fishies, did some outdoor stuff, fed too much money into the jukebox and had an altogether incredible time. I’ll have pictures of the fabulous Mendocino 4th of July Parade tomorrow, but in the meantime, check out my new favorite bar, The Golden West, in Fort Bragg, and this Humboldt County bluegrass band, The Bucky Walters, who played a really good show there last weekend. For real. Even the Marxist was loving it.

Off to Sequoia National Park tomorrow. Home to a 2,000 year old tree, one of the world’s oldest living things.

Thursdays are the days I try to sit up straight. I know some of you dislike when I post these random tidbits.
Deal. K?
I leave for NY a week from tomorrow. While I am there I plan on going to the Gugghenheim. Here’s the secret. I’ve never been. Can you believe?

Erns walks up a hill, D.M. stares at a tree, rarface takes pictures and tries not to whine about the heat/the hike/the awesome branch she found that Erini broke swatting flies. Thanksgiving in Palm Springs! Probably not too different from Thanksgiving elsewhere. Sad that it is over, because now I have to detox. At least until someone invites me out. At least till then.
l.a. time is here!

Home(ish) for the holiday! i-pizzle pictures from yesterday’s hike to the hollywood sign and a recommendation:
Paru’s Indian Vegetarian Restaurant on Sunset and Normandie is delicious. I would go back again tonight.
